Hagia Sophia was a  church, later turned to a mosque and now a museum. So the answer to this question is - Hagia Sophia was a mosque before it was converted into a museum in 1934. Although, according to a writer in an article, Deputy PM Arinc states he wants the Hagia Sophia to be a mosque again.
