Though many women applied for jobs that were once held by men who now fought in the war, many companies had their doubts about them.  Some set low quotas for hiring women while others gave low pay.  Still women who worked in the factories nevertheless performed well despite overtime and low pay.  Their hard work contributed to helping win the war.
