[tex] \left \{ {{y=5x-8} \atop {y=6x+3}} \right. [/tex]

Arrange equation  variables for elimination :

[tex] \left \{ {{y-5x=-8} \atop {y-6x=3}} \right. [/tex]

   y -   6x = 3
-  y -  5x = -8
______________
-x =  11

For y :

y - 6 x = 3

y - 6 ( - 11 ) = 3

y + 66 = 3

y = 3 - 66

y = -63

x = - 11      y = -63

hope this helps!
