A central idea is basically the element of the story. It ties together all of the other ideas to tell the story. The central idea can be best described as the dominant impression found in the story. It is easy to find a central idea because they are often found at the beginning of paragraphs. Because the first sentence often explains the subject being discussed in the text. Central ideas can also be found in the concluding sentences of a paragraph.
