Step-by-step explanation:

For a linear equation like 2x + 3 = 9 you would start with subtracting 3 from both sides. Then you would divide both sides by 2 to get x by itself. You get x=3

For linear inequalities it’s the same but with a less than or equal sign. You just solve the same way. However if you divide a negative the sign flips like in my second example. I’m not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for since I don’t know what your problems look like but I hope it helps.
