Geothermal energy brings water heated deep in the ground to the surface. Its conduits are in the form of faults and fractures that come out as hot springs or geysers. The heat comes from the hot bedrock. The water dissolves with it the minerals, that's why hot springs are referred to as relaxing mineral baths.
