Explain how you could use proportional reasoning to determine the number of quarts in 2 1/2 gallons

Since 4 quarts equal 1 gallon, 2 gallons and 8 quarts. 1/2 of a gallon equals 2 quarts. When you add 8 and 2 you get 10 quarts. The answer is 10 quarts.
