Remember that ordered pairs are written in the form:

[tex](x,y)[/tex]

To find it (-2,2) is a solution for the given equation, substitute x=-2 and y=2:

[tex]\begin{gathered} y-4=3(x+1) \\ \Rightarrow2-4=3(-2+1) \\ \Rightarrow-2=3(-1) \\ \Rightarrow-2=-3 \end{gathered}[/tex]

Since the expression -2=-3 is false, then the point (-2,2) is not a solution for the given equation.
