In a titration 25.0 ml of a .20 M NaOH solution is used to neutralize 10.0 ml of HCl. Write the equation for this neutralization reaction and calculate the molarity of the acid.

NaOH + HCl ---> NaCl + H20
1mol 1mol


no. of moles of NaOH : 20× (25.0÷1000)=0.5 mol

NaCl : HCl
1mol : 1 mol
0.5mol:0.5mol


HCl molarity: 0.5 mol ÷ (10÷1000) =50 M
