WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR AN IV SOLUTION TO HAVE SALT IN IT

i think the term is saline, and the solution is supposed to match with our body's solution, which is not all water, if it was all water, the salt in our body would be sucked out through osmosis or become very diluted, ending with us becoming over hydrated.
