The answer is “an increase in the market demand for the firm’s product”. When a competitive firm’s demand for labor increases it has something to do with the market’s demand for the firm’s goods. The greater the amount of products the market is demanding, the more demand for labor the firm will be needing, because the more the laborers, the faster they may produce products for the market.
