George Grenville,  A British Prime Minister urged the British Parliament to send the Stamp Act so the colonies would help bring Britain in debt. So, the taxes in the Stamp Act were taxes on newspapers, marriage proposals, diplomas, and even playing cards! All of these items had to have had a stamp on them, showing the tax had been paid. The Stamp Act was repealed after the Bosten Massacre.
