Simplify the following:
(18 + 14)/2 - (18 - 14)^2

 | 1 | 8
- | 1 | 4
 | 0 | 4:
(18 + 14)/2 - 4^2

 | 1 |
 | 1 | 8
+ | 1 | 4
 | 3 | 2:
32/2 - 4^2

The gcd of 32 and 2 is 2, so 32/2 = (2×16)/(2×1) = 2/2×16 = 16:
16 - 4^2

4^2 = 16:
16 - 16

16 - 16 = 0:
